Design Your Own Arena Hunger Games

That was about the overall Server, while this one is going to be about the arena and only the arena. Constructive critism is welcomed, and I'm also taking Skin requests and build requests. Anything else you want me to do? Just PM me on the Forums or just comment below in general. I'll be happy to answer every single post I get!

Now, to the actual post that this blog is about.
The Cornucopia
The Cornucopia should be based on the movie example, even though I feel the book version would look better. We need a visual example that will guide us through the process, and so this will do

This is the Cornucopia, and this is what we are going to base our Minecraft Cornucopia off. As you can see, it has the same shape as an actual cornucopia (surprising, huh?) and it should be made to some good examples. Here are a few good Minecraft Cornucopias

The first one is not the color we wanted, but the general design is exceptional. The second probably doesn't have good as design, but this time has the correct color and represents the movies version well. Both are good representations of the actual Cornucopia. Here my friends, is what we DON'T want

This is a horrible Cornucopia, only due to the open nature of it, and being the wrong color and looking nothing at ALL like the original design. A bad representation indeed. Oh, and finally, please place all the spawn boxes in a circle, like the following

Please don't use a square design. It looks almost as bad as a wrongly done Cornucopia. That's all for this area. Oh, and put the spawn area where the players have a good chance to inspect every biome upon entry into the Arena. Don't put it surrounded by trees without giving any notice of any other biomes. It gives players a lot more choice on where to go, and it means they don't have to walk around blindly.

Biomes
Try and use as many biomes as possible. A desert biome is suggested, though this generally means you have to put a river in. Or at least that's what most players expect. A forest biome is recommended for the amount of cover it issues to the competitors. Something like this would make for a good arena

It has a few biomes, and gives each player a lot of space to run and hide. Make sure you place the glass dome where it won't interfere with the landscape the most. A biome change is the ideal place to spawn the glass dome. Putting the dome in the middle of a biome makes it look messy and noobish, if I will say.

Chests And Rewards
You want to space out each chest a good distance, so they don't become to common but not to rare. Around 6-10 in each biome gives each player a good amount of chests to search. This makes for a much more interesting game. Players love to get a hard game, but not so hard that they can't find many weapons or armor. Try to put out Iron rewards more commonly than Gold or Leather. If your feeling really generous, place a few ChainMails and Diamond sets. The weapons have got to be a mix. Don't always give out swords. Put in chests things like axes or spades, just to mix it up. This can also depend on your Plugin list. Better weapons and armor Plugins gives your players a lot more choice and can make for more interesting games once again. Think about this a lot when starting your Server and Arenas. Some weapons plugins I recommend would be Armor Abilities, Arms Permissions Plugin, PvP Kill Announcer (Because I'm cheeky!) and More Physics.

Events
The Hunger Games is an event in itself, but what things happen inside the HG that make it that little bit more interesting. For those who actually have had the interest in going to see the movie, or in my case, read the books (As in read all of the series), you should have learnt about things like weather events, fire balls or the "Feast" which all make the HG so much more exciting for spectators and the contestants! As we can see here from the movie, Katniss is being shot out with huge fire balls, not ideal, but that's what the GameMakers planned for her.

Try and hook up some fire cannons if your wanting to go that far, and if your Hunger Games plugin allows, use lighting bolts! Try and bring the players together at points so you can get a huge bloodbath. It quickens up the game and makes it that bit more exciting! Everyone likes exciting, right?
